On a small hill called Tepeyacatl a 57 year old Mexica native has an encounter that will transform 2 continents. The play calls us to question what it means to serve a higher purpose and what if that purpose was each other. The music will move you, the message will inspire you and the moment will stay with you for days to come. Su Teatro’s Miracle at Tepeyac first performed in the 1970s Su Teatro’s original production of Miracle at Tepeyac was performed in the church hall of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in North Denver. That retelling of Our Lady of Guadalupe’s visit with Juan Diego helped inspire today’s version. The moment will stay with you Experience the pageantry and beauty of faith and commitment that has endured for centuries.

Tony Garcia, the playwright and director, saw the connections we had to our indigenous past and juxtaposes Juan Diego’s journey in 1531 with that of a church community from a poor barrio. Garcia’s play presents a universal message of family, faith and redemption. True to form, Su Teatro’s Miracle at Tepeyac, blends indigenous, Spanish and New Mexico music, rhythms, dance, and pageantry. Also, you can always expect Su Teatro’s productions to touch on current social issues and at the same time celebrate seasonal traditions.

With many immigrants finding refuge in churches and community organizations, this play will warm our spirit and give us a renewed sense of hope.
