Latinas Get A Leg Up Pursuing Legal Professions – Hispanic Bar Modeling Show

On July 16, 2015, the Hispanic National Bar Association’s Latina Commission, in conjunction with the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association, hosted a unique fashion show to enhance the careers of young Latinas. The show was held at the Space Gallery in Denver, Colorado, and showcased ten Latinas interested in the legal profession. Each Latina submitted a two-paragraph essay on “What It Means and Looks Like to Be a Professional Woman.” Based on these submissions, ten Latinas were invited to participate in a shopping trip exclusively for the purpose of selecting professional wear within a budget, including each young woman’s choice of an interview outfit, a business casual outfit, and/or a cocktail/reception outfit. These Latinas were then asked to model their selected outfits in a fashion show, as well as participate in a special networking event arranged in their honor and for their benefit. During the show, several of Denver’s most prominent Latinas provided the young women with advice about professional dress and best networking practices. After the show, all ten Latinas were able to network with HNBA members and members of Denver’s legal community.
