Inspiration Never Gets Old, In Their Own Words Awardees Energize At 27th NEWSED Civil Rights Awards

“Education is the door to freedom and power for our children. Without a quality education we remain subjects destined to a life of poverty,” said Dr. Lorenzo Trujillo speaking at the 2018 NEWSED Civil Rights Awards. Attorney at Law & Professor of Music at Metropolitan State University of Denver.

Dr. Trujillo was among six awardees who were honored at the 27th Annual Civil Rights Awards ‘Honoring Leaders in Education’ held September 20, 2018 at the Seawell Grand Ballroom of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts.
“Honoring Leaders in Education” awards went to La Academia, a 47 year old private school of the Denver Inner City Parish, Dr. Lorenzo Trujillo, attorney at law & professor of music at Metropolitan State University of Denver, Congresswoman Diana Degette, The greater Denver Ministerial Alliance, a social justice advocacy organization, Michelle Sie, President & CEO, ARC Thrift Stores, and Dr. Martha Urioste, Legendary educator & Community Leader. Latin Life Denver was honored to again serve as a media sponsor for this historic event.
