Detention Nation Exhibit Now Thru May 27th FREE!

Join us as we open our doors to an
experiential exhibition unlike any other at
Museo de las Americas!
Detention Nation is a call-to-action to analyze what we as free citizens are informed through the media vs our opinions and systems of belief. The exhibit will include installation pieces replicating the interior of a detention cell and providing a voice to all those who have been detained and undergone a dehumanizing experience including forced separation from family, days without sunshine and cameras watching their every move.
Curatorial Statement:
“The Collective Sin Huellas has taken custody of this museum and has entrapped you, the viewer. You will be forced to experience conditions thousands of detainees endure everyday. Chain link fences, razor wires, and cameras alert your instincts of your captivity. The installations challenge viewers to contemplate the consequences of broken immigration policies, and to experience the subhuman conditions that prevail in detention facilities across the country and the world. Detention Nation is a Call to Action in solidarity of all unjustly incarcerated!”
-Maruca Salazar, Curator
