The Mexican Cultural Center and the Colorado Symphony proudly announce the eighth annual “Latin Beats: Sonidos de las Americas” concert on Thursday, September 26, at 7:00 pm at Boettcher Concert Hall. This free community event is a cornerstone of Denver’s Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations, showcasing the vibrant culture and richness of Latin American music and dance with a special focus on the South American Andes and Mexico.

This concert promises a vibrant journey through Latin American classics and beloved operatic
gems. Audiences will be swept away by lively rhythms, romantic ballads, and regional melodies
that showcase the rich cultural heritage of Mexico and beyond. With a blend of energetic folk
traditions, heartfelt rancheras, and dramatic opera, the program captures both the spirited and
emotional essence of these musical traditions.

This year’s edition, the concert features Qhaswa
Peru-USA, a Cultural Association dedicated to celebrating Peruvian culture through dance
education, folkloric dance, and storytelling. The name ‘Qhashwa,’ meaning joyful and festive dance
in Quechua, perfectly encapsulates the spirit they bring to their performances.

The evening’s diverse lineup also includes the special performance of international talents baritone
Adan Pérez and Mezzo-soprano Oralia Castro López, whose artistry bridges traditional and
contemporary Latin American music, especially from Sinaloa, Mexico. Audiences will be treated to
the powerful sounds of our local talents, Mariachi Sol de Mi Tierra and Banda La Patrona, a 16-
member Regional Mexican band from Zacatecas, and captivating folkloric Mexican ballet
performances by ArtistiCo. We will also have the special presentation of El Sistema performing in
the lobby before the concert.

This eclectic mix of performers showcases a fusion of traditional, classical, and contemporary
music, all augmented by the Colorado Symphony’s soaring orchestrations. Together, they offer an
unforgettable celebration of Latin American and classical music.
“This concert is a vibrant celebration of Latin America’s rich musical heritage,” says Rachel Garcia,
Executive Director of the Mexican Cultural Center. “It offers a unique journey through diverse
rhythms and dances.”
Nick Dobreff, Communications Director of the Colorado Symphony, adds, “We’re thrilled to
continue this partnership, bringing together our orchestra and these talented artists for an
unforgettable evening of cultural celebration.”
