Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc. was established to assist and encourage members in the advancement of higher education, dedication to community service, and to provide an environment for personal growth within a unit of sisterhood. Furthermore, Lambda Theta Nu is committed to the empowerment of all Latinos. To accomplish our mission, we have established a National Latina Scholarship Fund with the goal of assisting high school women pursue their educational goals. Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc. members raise funds to provide scholarships to Latina High School students that exemplify our ideals.
- Must be a female of Latino Heritage or be able to demonstrate dedication to community service and empowerment of the Latina/o community.
- Must be a graduating senior in High School.
- Must be attending an accredited 4-year college or university program as a first year student by Fall of 2016.
- Must submit application by Saturday April 30th, 2016. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted, no exceptions. No hard copy applications will be accepted. All applicants must use this platform for submission and consideration.
- High school transcript.
- A personal statement addressing the following: family background, scholarship achievements, educational and career goals, commitment to the Latina/o community, financial need, and any other relevant information (two pages maximum).
- One letter of recommendation.
- Note to Applicant: You will be required to submit one letter of recommendation with your application. Someone who knows you in an academic, professional, volunteer, or extracurricular experience should write your recommendation. Recommendations from family and friends are not accepted.
- Note to Author of Recommendation: Comment on the student’s activities and behaviors that demonstrate academic achievement, leadership, motivation, self-discipline and commitment. Discuss features that you believe this student possesses which are important for college and preparing for a multicultural society. Please note that the letters are not confidential, as the student is required to scan the letter for submission. The recommendation letter must include the name, date and signature of the author of recommendation.
