Sky high and outrageous hair fashion was all the rage at the tenth annual Denver Fashion Weekend held Nov. 10-13. The “Hair Show” culminated three days of fashion design featuring local designers, stylists, models and boutiques. Up and coming Latin fashion designer Norberto Mojardin, better know as Beto of Beto’s Hair Salon closed out the show with his incredible fashions and hair styles that featured a Native America Flair that brought down the house. In an interview with Latin Life America TV, Beto told host Lindita Torres Winters that he wanted to showcase the Native American’s beauty, fashion and culture. ” I put so much passion into each individual head dress, outfit, and every piece of jewelry,” he said.
While the audience was vocal and enthusiastic throughout the show, Beto was the only designer to receive a standing ovation on the final night. This year’s show featured 21 salon segments and 17 fashion designers including Mona Lucero and Gina Velardi.
Denver Fashion Weekend was the brain child of national award winning stylist and producer Charlie Price along with AB Aharonian, publisher of 303 Magazine. Together they started the event with a one night show ten years ago and now it has become Colorado’s largest fashion event of the year. In an interview for the show Price stated, “I wanted to create an atmosphere where salons could come together and show their work in its finest most expressive and uncensored way. A show for the public not about selling product lines but abut the Mile High beauty community uniting”
Price is also known for having won many industry awards. He is a two time NAHA North American Hairstylist of the Year award winner in 2002 and 2008 (the first American to do so), the first ever NAHA People’s Choice award winner in 2011 (he has a career total of 24 NAHA nominations) and he was named Canadian Mirror Awards International Hairstylist of the Year in 2007 (a title which he has been nominated for 6 times).
Charlie trained under runway hair masters Guido, Serge Normant and Eugene Souleiman in Milan on fashion shows such as Dolce & Gabbana, Prada and miu miu, and in NYC on fashion shows such as DKNY, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein and Marc Jacobs. He went on to be lead hairstylist at NY fashion week for designers such as Peter Som, Jeremy Scott, Imitation of Christ, Catherine Malandrino, Matthew Williamson, Cynthia Rowley, Benjamin Cho, Charlotte Ronson and Jason Wu among many others. Charlie also made a memorable appearance as the villain on Shear Genius 2 for Bravo TV which aired in 22 countries.
