NAAFI Are Redefining Mexican Club Music, Sept. 13th Denver’s Zeppelin Station “Made In Mexico City”

Battling cultural stereotypes and lazy genre misnomers, a core set of Mexican artists, based around the NAAFI label and party series, are reshaping the hybrid sounds of their homegrown club scene and injecting a sense of pride into the national identity.  Made in Música // Naafi: Mexican Jihad + Lao: Friday, September 13th 11pm – 2am

NAAFIHailing from Mexico City, we’re excited to announce N.A.A.F.I. – an independent record label that puts out electronic club music – will be blessing us with sounds from Mexican Jihad + Lao during a late-night party at Big Trouble. First 100 attendees will receive a complimentary Mural Cerveza!
As the Los Angeles Times puts it, “The sound of N.A.A.F.I (an acronym for a charmingly profane statement of commercial disinterest) is similarly defiant and hard to pin down. While the collective’s tracks hit hard in after-hours spaces, N.A.A.F.I has also embraced outre local Mexican styles such as Tribal (low-budget, fast-paced electropop) and a panopoly of Latin and western electronic genres, refracted through a modern Mexican lens.”

Stay tuned to learn more about the artists and to hear a few tracks prior to their sets – we’ll be posting them in this event!
